Growing up in Union, SC, attending Church services on Sunday was a must for the Jones family. Reverend Andrew Jones Sr. taught all of his children the three "T" (s) of stewardship to Church, Family and Community. Time, Talent and Treasure are the three T's of Stewardship. During this campaign, State Senate hopeful, Andrew Jones visited many of our Churches and discussed political concerns with members and religious leaders in both District 7 and the State of South Carolina. Faith based organizations serve our community by providing food, clothes, shelter, after-school programs, counseling services, assistance with healthcare needs and much more.
In a recent visit with the St. Anthony of Padua's Catholic Church Women's Council, Linda Marie Richardson, President of the South Carolina Council of Catholic Women asked Atty. Jones to speak on his stand on Immigration issues in South Carolina.
Candidate's view on Immigration:
"Securing our Borders is unquestionably a must for our Country. Illegal immigrants come to the United States to engage in "deferred gratification". Deferred gratification means that they are putting off doing things that will benefit them now and engage in doing things that will improve their family's quality of living in the future. The danger illegal immigrants face when coming into our Country certainly demonstrates that they are trying to escape from something that is more devastating. Survival of the family is the driving force behind many illegal immigrants. More people with this fortitude is what we need in our Country today. We now live in an age of consumerism that is quickly catching up with us. Today, many families are in a critical financial situation because they were consuming more than saving. Perhaps our immigration problem is a blessing in disguise. Deferred Gratification may be the answer to regaining family stability for families in crisis today. For illegal Immigrants who are here in search of deferred gratification, I think we should find ways to help them, instead of spending dollars to send them back. As far as those with criminal intentions associated with deferred gratification activities, I think they should be sent back. These are the folks that engaged in making money by criminal acts in their native country and decided to come here because they can make more money by doing these same criminal acts. If elected as senator, I will work diligently on finding solutions to our immigration crisis that supports human dignity and family preservation."
St. Anthonyof Padua Women's Council voice their concerns to State Senate hopeful; Andrew Jones.
